PATRICE CASSEDY

PLAYWRIGHT/DRAMATURG/AUTHOR

THEATRE

Patrice Cassedy’s “Detroit Blues” has been described as “high drama laced with moments of beautiful humanity.” The historical, racial justice drama, with music by Mike Cassedy, was produced in Washington, DC and New York City, and as an Actor’s Equity reading directed by Obie winner, Leah C. Gardiner. Patrice’s work has also been seen on stages in Brooklyn (“War, She Said)”, Los Angeles and Missouri (“Bank Shot,” a musical for which she wrote the book with Julie Weiner, lyrics, and Richard Plotkin, music). A graduate of Burbank’s New Musicals Inc. in book and lyrics, Patrice was a finalist for a San Diego Foundation Creative Catalyst Fellowship and an Elizabeth George Foundation Individual Grant. Her plays have been read at EST/LA, Playwrights Project/Diversionary Theatre (San Diego) and at the Great Plains and Southampton Playwriting theatre conferences. She contributed “The Celebrated Dottoressa Bassi” to the 2019 “365 Women a Year” project. Patrice provides dramaturgical support for plays from Shakespeare to contemporary, and formerly worked as a volunteer play reader for La Jolla Playhouse.
